Entrepreneurs are typically either looking for gaps to be filled or for trends that can be leveraged. At the Agathe Center, we tend to cast our gaze a bit more toward the gaps – find a gap and seek to fill it.

This has led us to offer our coaching and mentoring services primarily to those who find connecting with typical consulting services difficult or untenable for any number of reasons. It has also led us to establish and fund an annual scholarship award for academically successful undergraduates, who have some experience in their chosen discipline, and who are looking for help in equipping themselves further through post-graduate studies. We thought we saw a gap there.
Now, having gone through a full second year of publicizing the scholarship, receiving applications, reviewing them, and interacting with candidates, the quality that has come our way has been truly stunning. Of course, there are a lot of accomplished and clever young people out there, but that doesn’t at all capture it. A subset of that group is genuinely motivated to become the kind of servant leaders who do much good in the world. All of our applicants were a part of that subset. How almost excruciating it was to narrow down the group of applicants down to only one scholarship recipient!
A couple of things:
-We intend to walk with the awardee and some of our applicants as they pursue their vocational callings. Our award is about more than the money.
- And while we made this year’s choice, we couldn’t help dreaming about being able to offer three or five scholarship awards next year. Perhaps you might want to join us in making that happen. That would also be truly stunning!
